One very personal detail of the quinceanera is el ramo de la quinceanera–the bouquet carried by the quinceanera. The bouquet is usually selected by the quinceanera herself. Depending on the type of arrangement she chooses, it can be a momento that she will treasure forever.
Types of bouquets used by quinceaneras
Real flowers: this is a classic choice for important events, quinceaneras included. Beautiful and fragrant, some flowers to consider are roses, peonies, lilies and orchids. You can work with a florist to design an arrangement that flows well with the dress and quinceanera theme. Price will vary based factors such as size of bouquet and flowers used. Expect a custom bouquet to cost around $60 minimally, although the price could be much higher.
Silk flowers: deciding to go with silk flowers means opening up your options. You will not have to rely on what is in season, and as an added bonus, with a little caution, your bouquet will last forever. Don’t expect to necessarily pay less–silk flowers often cost close to the same as real flowers (except there is no extra cost for out of season flowers). Tip: there are countless gorgoeus handmade silk bouquet creations available on etsy.com for a variety of prices. Also, if you are super crafty, there are tutorials available that show the step-by-step of making your own ramo, here is one: http://www.ehow.com/how_5731971_make-quinceanera-bouquet.html
Paper flowers: Paper flowers offer a very timeless take on the quinceanera bouquet. The customizations for this type of bouquet are truly limitless. Any flower can be made, and the materials can be customized to exactly what you are looking for. This is the style bouquet we used for our daughter’s quince (See above pic)–so I am a little biased. However, we couldn’t have been happier with the results. It was a real show stopper–it received compliments all day long! Also, it now serves as a decoration and memento from that day.
Crystal: crystal quinceanera bouquets are very popular, and don’t even necessarily include any flowers. The bouquet may be mainly crystal, or satin bows accompanied by crystal adornments. Crystal bouquets are full of sparkle and may be slightly less expensive than the other options.
Selecting and ordering the quinceanera bouquet should take place with at least 6 weeks notice before the big day. You definitely don’t want to pay more for a last minute order, or worry about your bouquet being complete and in your hands on time. The options truly are endless, but your ramo should reflect your uniqueness, creativity and sense of style. Which type of ramo stands out the most to you?
