Color Scheme: Black and white, with accents of red, is a really nice and classic combination for an Old Hollywood quinceanera theme. You may also want to incorporate gold into your theme to create a dazzling vibe.

Venue: This theme is nice indoors, in a nice ballroom or event center. Poolside would be amazing!

Invitations: There are invitations available that are Hollywood themed. For example, I have spotted invitations that look like movie tickets, and also invites that feature a Walk of Fame star or movie reel.

The Dress: Go as glamorous as possible! Sequins, feathers, beading, metallic fabric, satin, shirring, and lace are all details that support an Old Hollywood theme.

Consider stepping away from the traditional quinceanera ball gown. Instead, look for a sleeker style gown, such as a trumpet or mermaid shape.

You may want to pair a long pair of gloves with this look. Throw an oversized fancy ring over one of your gloved fingers!

A very special touch would be to have your dress custom made, based off of a favorite red carpet look. Sound expensive? A custom made dress may cost the same or even much less than some quinceanera ball gowns.

Quince Court: Dress your damas in white, and your chambelanes in black suits. Exception–put your chambelan de honor in a white suit to stand out from the crowd.  Have them use red accessories, or gold (or both!).

Old Hollywood Decorations:  Think red carpet, stars, feathers, a Hollywood sign, movie reels, star balloons, black and white photos. Red roses, sequin fabric in the center of the tables and glittery table numbers would help support this theme.

Cut out gold stars from scrapbook paper, and hang from the ceiling. Large balloons also make a big impact with a relatively low cost.

Life size cutouts of Hollywood celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor with go far to set the vibe.

Entertainment: A band would work very well with this theme, and help create the ambiance of an Old Hollywood theme. If you have a DJ, try hiring a singer for just a short time. Ask that they dress according to the Old Hollywood theme.

Money saver: is there someone in your family who sings beautifully–and is not shy and likes to perform in front of an audience? See if he/she would like to perform a small set of songs at your party!

Food: Any type of food can be used with this theme. Finger foods, buffet, or sit down dinner will all work just fine.

The Cake: A black and white cake, a cake topped dramatically with red roses, or an all-gold cake would be pretty.

Party Favors: One idea for party favors is gold star-shaped cookies to send your guests home with. Candles would also make a simple, classy gift.

Special Touches: You will most definitely need paparazzi! Ask a few friends or family members to storm through your party randomly, taking pics with disposable cameras. Make sure the flash is on! Collect the cameras at the end of the night.

As your guests arrive, have them walk the red carpet and have your photographer capture some fun pics. Serve popcorn as your guests  mingle.

    • Hi Jennie,

I think you can pretty much use any color as long as you have decorations that make it feel like “Old Hollywood”. Like if you went with purple, and had some Old Hollywood props, glamorous hair and makeup and other Hollywood accents, that would be a great way to achieve this theme!

So, basically this theme could work with any color. Some colors I think go especially well with it are red, black and white; gold and silver; all red; and all hot pink would be pretty. Good luck!

    • Hi Shanon,

Absolutely! Like I mentioned above, if your decorations are Old Hollywood theme, you can pretty much use any color you want to be your main color. I think royal blue or purple would be gorgeous with your Hollywood theme :) Maybe pair it with silver or gold too!

  1. Hi I’m melanie and want do this theme for my quince in September 2014 . My dress is going to be a pink peach and since I dance I wanted to do like an opening number . What colors do u suggest would look good with peach pink in order to still keep it that old Hollywood vibe

    • Hi Melanie, what do you think about using gold with your peach pink color? I like gold for an Old Hollywood theme, and also I think gold looks great with a peachy pink. I also think you could add black into the mix– pink, gold, black. For a very soft look you could do pink, mint and gold. Another idea is to do an all white Hollywood party. That way, your pink dress will really stand out. Finally, how about pink, white and gold? What do you think?

  2. If I’m doing this theme for my sweet 16 and I want to do my surprise dance as swing/jiving music such as Rockin Robin & Wallflower (Roll With Me Henry) by Etta James will it not go with this theme? But I’m also including Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag from Chicago in my surprise dance too..

    • Absolutely! I even googled it to make sure. There are companies that will come perform these types of dances at Old Hollywood themed parties! So I say go with it!! Sarah
