Barbie Quinceanera Theme

Barbie parties are no longer just for little girls–whole weddings have even been centered around this fun theme! A Barbie quinceanera theme is really the ultimate girly theme for your party. Here’s how to make it happen:

This dress…the ultimate Barbie dress!

Venue: A location with a pool would be, well, the best location ever. It is possible (drawback: it will likely be pricey!!). Try getting creative and renting a private house with a pool–unless you happen to know someone with a huge mansion and pool, who would love to loan it to you for your quince :)Otherwise–fit this theme into pretty much any venue, and make it work with well planned decorations.

Color Scheme: Pink and black, of course! Or try pink and silver, pink, light blue and light purple, or maybe two or three different shades of pink. No matter which combination you chose, you definitely want to make PINK the primary color.

Invitations: The challenge with this invitation theme, is that the majority of the Barbie invitations out there are more aimed to children’s parties. You may need to look outside the box to find your perfect Barbie invitation, one that is fancy and mature enough for your party. The best ones that we found were on etsy.com–don’t hesitate to contact the sellers to see if they are able to handle your specific invitation needs.

The Dress: We have found some amazing Barbie-esque quince dresses and added them to our Barbie Quinceanera Theme Pinterest Board. You want the most glamourous and girly gown you can find, that is within your budget, and compliments you the best. Look for ruffles, lace, bows, satin, pearls, or any form of bling, or any combination of these elements!

Quince Court: Your damas could also wear Barbie-inspired dresses–pick something to compliment your look. High ponytails are a must. If any of your damas have shorter hair–consider clip on ponytails. Think lots of VOLUME! Have your damas do a Barbie makeup to complete their look. Your chambelan de honor can style himself after Ken, and the chambelanes as well, by going simple and clean cut with with the suits and hairstyles.

Decorations: A pink curtain entrance, complete with a Barbie sign and pink carpet is an amazing way to welcome your guests to your Barbie themed quince! From there, use Barbie touches here and there, along with your main colors, to accomplish this theme. Pink lighting, a balloon arch in your colors, pink tulle pom poms and satin draping on the tables are some more good options to get your theme going. Black tablecloths with pink centerpieces make a striking combination. Candles and candelabras fit well into this theme, as do feathers, anything that sparkles, mirrors and bows. And, of course, using actual Barbies as centerpieces is a lovely idea.

Entertainment: A DJ or a band will work well with this theme! At some point during the party, you know you will have to play the “Barbie Girl” song!

Food: Finger foods, appetizers and all pink drinks would be very fun. Set up all pink drink bar, with pink lemonade, cherry 7 Up, strawberry milk, and even pink colored ice water. To really impress, serve Barbie floats, with raspberry sherbet and ginger ale.

The Cake: Go with something decadent and super girly. Top your cake with a Barbie, use details like edible glitter or ruffles, and add some bows to it. You could also go with a cake/cupcake tower combination. Cupcake toppers with Barbie’s silhouette on them would be cute: I found a source for DIY printable Barbie toppers here.

Party Favors: Candy would be a nice favor for this theme, try wrapping a satin bow around a candy bar and setting one at each place setting. An extra special favor: if you know there will be 5 little girls at your party, make sure each of them goes home with their own Barbie (they will be soo excited!)!

Special Touches: A fun idea: create a “Barbie Box Photobooth”, which is a huge pink box designed to look like a Barbie box, that your guests can pose in. A white chocolate fountain would be a feature your guests would not forget soon, and would fit well in your glamorous girly theme.

  1. This was Beautiful, how can I find the Happy Birthday Barbie backdrop. I’m doing a 4th Birthday celebration for my friend baby as she fought cancer and has been cleared and is now in remission so they’re throwing her a 4th Barbie Birthday party and I would like to give her the best planning for this party. Any info in the right direction will greatly be appreciated. Thank you

  2. Hi this is Alex I love this Barbie theme ,I really like the manshion do you know if I could rent it for my quince?thank you for your time God Bless You:)

    1. Hi Alex,

Thank you, Alex, I have to admit I love the Barbie theme 🙂

I researched the Barbie house and found that they turned a beach house into Barbie’s “Malibu Dream House” for the Barbie 50th Anniversary Party. So while this house was only the Barbie Mansion for the night, you could try to style your party in a similar style. The most important is the pink lighting. The pink lighting makes all the difference in turning a location into a Barbie party! If you can find a house to rent with a pool, that would be a great start for creating the Barbie mansion.

Here is an article about the Barbie party, describing what they did to create this over-the-top party: http://www.bizbash.com/for_barbies_50th_anniversary_mattel_makes_life-size_malibu_dream_house/los-angeles/story/14819/#sthash.REe9TRt3.dpbs
