Quinceanera Cakes
The quinceanera cake is a pretty big deal, and no matter your budget, with a little planning and creativity–you can have an amazing quince cake. Quinceanera cakes come in many different styles and varieties.
Planning your quinceanera cake
Theme: the quinceanera cake is a fun element to incorporate yourquince theme into. A butterfly theme could mean a cake in the shape of a butterfly, or it could have butterflies scattered all throughout the design. The theme of your quince will also likely impact the topper you choose for your cake if you choose to have one.
Budget: you will definitely want to keep cost in mind when selecting your cake. An elaborate cake done with fondant with cost more than a cake frosted with a buttercream frosting.
Guests: the amount of guests you have directly impacts how much cake you need to serve everyone. You always want to have a little extra rather than not enough. Imagine running out of cake before all of your guests have had a piece! Make sure you at least have a good rough guest count before heading to the baker.
Baker: you want to check out several, to see what’s out there, compare prices and find the person who will deliver the cake you want on your big day. Ask around for recommendations. Run their name on Google to see what kind of reviews are out there. Sample product! And if they charge you to sample, personally, I would move on. A sample should be free, especially if they want your business. Also, many grocery stores have very good bakeries and you may find their prices to be very competitive for a very good product–definitely an option to consider.
Flavor: you want to choose a flavor that you like and that your guests will enjoy, too. A great option for a multi-layer cake–different flavors on each tier! Frostings vary–buttercream, whipped cream, cream cheese based, fondant are examples. Fillings do cost more but can make for an even more delicious cake; cream, raspberry, lemon, chocolate are popular.
Other options: your quinceanera cake doesn’t have to be a “cake” at all! It could be a cupcake tower, a cake pop display or any other creative option that isn’t necessarily a cake. Cupcakes are a fun option because you can easily order several different flavors. An added bonus–there is nothing to cut–they simply get passed out.
For a quinceanera cupcake tower, you may need to rent a stand unless it is supplied by the bakery. There are many ways to display cake pops, as well. Depending on your skills, cake pops MAY be something your family can DIY for the party. Also consider that you will need at least 3-4 cake pops per person–who can ever eat just one?
Overall, you want your quinceanera cake to look amazing, taste amazing and enhance the overall theme of your quince. Get an idea of some options you would like, and visit several bakers to see what they offer and make sure to find out exactly what they include with the cake–is there a fee to have it set up? Will they set it up? When is payment due? If you do your research, creating the best cake for your party (and your budget) should be a pretty sweet process~ 🙂
