A *Sweet* Trend That is Guaranteed to Be a HUGE Hit at Your Quince…

The Quinceanera Candy Buffet

Special touches always make a party really fun and memorable for your guests (and yourself!). Some special touches I have enjoyed at parties include chocolate fountains, photo booths and surprise dances. A trend that I have noticed is becoming VERY popular, is the quinceanera candy buffet.

A candy buffet is pretty awesome for many reasons. It goes well with any quinceanera theme, and is a must-have for a Candyland quince theme. You can use the buffet to complement your theme or color scheme. A candy buffet can also be used as favors if you provide bags or boxes for your guests to bring treats with them.

A candy buffet is pleasing to the eye (and taste buds!), and is sure to be a very popular attraction at your quince. So, how does it work?

Basic elements of a quinceanera candy buffet

  • Candy (about 8 ounces per guest)
  • Candy jars, apothecary jars, bowls, vases: containers for your candy
  • Scoops for your candy
  • Table and linen
  • A couple table decorations (I like the idea of a personalized sign, such as “Lucy’s Candy Shoppe”)
  • Something for guests to put candy in, such as favor boxes or bags

* A tip for the table: smaller is better than bigger for the candy buffet table. A candy buffet that is super spread out just doesn’t look as exciting as a more concentrated buffet.

Where to find the best candy~

The candy you serve at your buffet is the most important part of your buffet. We have all tasted stale candy, or candy that tastes like the bulk bin it was stored in (for who knows how long!). You don’t want your candy to be regular — you want your candy to be extraordinary!

I recently tried some candy samples from a very cool company that sells bulk candy, ACandyStore.com. It is really important to have delicious and fresh-tasting candy for your buffet, and the samples I tried definitely were both delicious and incredibly fresh. Their candy is wonderful. I sampled a bit of this and that, including lollipops, pink candy sticks, chocolate hearts and taffy.

I have to say, I have never, ever, been a taffy fan. I now realize this is because I have never had amazing taffy before! Such as the soft, bursting with flavor, CREAMY taffy that I tried from ACandyStore.com. I have complete confidence that their taffy is delicious in all (60+) flavors, but  the exact flavor I tried was strawberry.

I was super impressed with their candy, so I needed to find out if the prices were competitive. I am always a bargain shopper and I don’t like to overpay for anything.  I did a little searching around online for bulk candy, and confirmed that ACandyStore.com has very competitive pricing for their candy.

They also have a ridiculously huge selection of candy. You can search for candy by color, flavor, brand, occasion or even party theme.

Additional Resources:

There are a lot of guides for building candy buffets, as well as informational videos. I happily recommend the following:

* Candy Buffet Tutorial  This tutorial from the My Love of Style blog is very informative for all the ins and outs of designing a candy buffet.

* How much candy will you need for your buffet? Check out the tutorials on ACandyStore.com to view examples of different candies in various sizes. This is very important because you want to be able to judge how much candy you will need for your buffet. To ensure you have enough candy, especially if your buffet is doubling as favors, you will need appromimately 8 ounces of candy per guest (half a pound).

Top 5 tips and tricks for saving money on your candy buffet:

5. Start collecting jars and glass containers early! Beg (haha),  borrow, and make sure to buy on sale or with a coupon. Also, check and see if your venue has containers available for your use. The less money you spend on containers means the more money you can spend on the important stuff–the candy!!

4. Buy your candy in bulk. When you are buying larger quantities you will typically get a better deal than buying small amounts.

3. Look for coupon codes and flat-rate shipping. Candy can get pretty heavy, if you are buying a lot of it. Flat rate shipping is great because you will pay a set fee for your entire order, regardless of size.

2. Consider finding padrinos de candy buffet! Your candy buffet is going to be a huge hit, and if you can find padrinos for this, they will likely be very proud to say they contributed to this aspect of your party 🙂

and my #1 to suggestion for making your candy buffet affordable is:

1.  Let your candy buffet double as favors!! Party favors are an expense you will likely have whether you do a candy buffet or not. If your candy buffet can be both an awesome special touch at your quince and favors for your guests, that is a serious score!!

I hope you found our candy buffet tips, recommendations and resources helpful. A candy buffet is a seriously nice touch to have at any party, especially a quinceanera! If you have a candy buffet at your quince, we would LOVE to see it. Send pics to myperfectquince@live.com
